About Pier
Pier is a Windows 10/11 app that mounts remote storage as a real drive letter: WebDAV (Nextcloud, ownCloud, Synology, QNAP), SFTP over SSH and NFSv3. Explorer, Office, backup tools and scripts work on it as on an ordinary disk.
A block cache on the local disk keeps large files fast, interrupted transfers resume where they stopped, a dropped connection is re-dialled on its own and a drive keeps working offline.
Who it is for: freelancers, small offices and home-lab users who keep files on their own server or NAS. Free for up to 5 drives with all protocols and features; Pro is 19 USD a year for unlimited drives and no ads.
What Pier does
- Drive mapping
- Pier maps remote storage solutions like Nextcloud, SFTP, and NFS as local drive letters on Windows, making them easily accessible through Explorer.
- Caching capabilities
- It utilizes a block cache on the local disk, improving performance by storing frequently accessed files locally and preventing unnecessary re-downloads.
- Resumable uploads and downloads
- If a connection is interrupted, uploads and downloads automatically resume from where they left off without requiring user intervention.
- Offline mode
- Users can switch to offline mode to work from the cache, with changes logged and synced to the server when back online.
- Automatic reconnects
- The application automatically detects network changes and reconnects to continue with queued operations.
